MS. VIOLA BARTON, Woman of Faith (age 87) is native of Starkville, Mississippi, later moving to Chicago, Ilinois in 1959, transitioned peacefully December 03, 2025 while at home in Starkville, MS. Viola was surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 04, 1938, Viola was the daughter of the late R.D.and Mittie McGee of Starkville, MS. Viola, fondlv known as "Honey,'" was known for her care and love of children. She was tenaciously resilient, hardworking, and independent individual. Honey was a truly giving and caring person. She accepted everyone as they were. She advocated for others, reserving judgement, understanding that we all fall short. She lived a life filled with love, faith, and grace. She was greatly loved by family, friends, and neighbors.
Viola married Alexander "Al" Barton in 1980 and together they shared thirty-four (34) wonderful years. Alexander Barton preceded her in death in 2014. Viola dedicated much of her life to family and career at Schwarz Paper Company of Chicago, IL, where she served as Supervisor. Her quick wit, loving heart, and influence will be remembered by all who knew her.
Viola is preceded in death by siblings, Gertha R. Teague, Mamie D. Baggett, and son, Billy McGee.
She is survived by Barbara A. Skinner (Jackie) of Columbus, MS., and Deborah L. Sims (Eugene) of Starkville, MS..Grandchildren: Melissa Barton (Howard) of North Carolina, Jacques Skinner (Tiffany) of Houston, TX, Charles Skinner (Berkeleigh) Modesto, CA, Dustin McGee, Nashville, TN, Billy McGee, Jr (Jasmine) of Nashville, TN, Chasidy Lindsey of Atlanta, GA, Richard Bevill of Birmingham, AL; Great-grandchildren - 17: Great-great grandchildren -3. Siblings: Charles H. McGee of Dartmouth, OH, Renee Bullock of Starkville, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viola will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her legacy traits of - generosity, tremendous sense of humor, devotion to those whom she adopted, engrafted, and loved.
Her warmth and wisdom will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
