Nona Hill

December 6, 1932 — October 3, 2021

Nona Katheryn Lee, journey began on December 6, 1932 in Anniston, Alabama. She was born to the union of Walter and Williemae Lee. She was the youngest of three siblings. Both parents and two siblings, Walter A. Lee and Dorothy Estell preceded her to Glory. “Kat” as she was affectionately called, was always ambitious and willing to face any task head on.

She accepted Christ at an early age. Her grandfather was a presiding elder in the A.M.E. Church. Church was their way of life.

Kat received her formal education in Anniston, graduating from Cobb High School. She was raised in a strong, God fearing family. After high school she relocated to Chicago, Illinois to live and work in her cousins Barbeque House. She was truly a “Jack of all Trades”, and master of many. Working and furthering her education at Cortez Peter Business School.

Her employment included: Spiegel’s Department Store, Jared Jewelers, and Macy’s Department Stores. She was a Legal Secretary to Alderman Streeter, a Bank Loan Officer, a member of the Young Democrats and Dress Horseman Modeling Troup.

Kat met and later married Jake Hill that was in the Livery/Funeral Industries. He also preceded her in death. She was blessed with two daughters, Veronica and Denise, that she raised with a stern fist. As a single mother, she taught structure and independence. She challenged many tasked, she would put the girls in the car and drive 15-16 hours by herself with no G.P.S.

Kat was also a very faithful member for over 4o years at Christ Universal Temple, where she traveled all over with Johnnie Coleman and her Church and Friends. She was truly a phenomenal woman. Thanks be to God for lending her to us for 89 years, even later battling the terrible diseased of Alzheimer's. She still tried to do for herself.

She will be greatly missed and remembered. On October 3, 2021, God saw fit to move Nona from labor to Reward. “Well done thy faithful Servant”.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Veronica and Denise (Wayne); one granddaughter, Amari; sister-in-law, Bernice Lee of Florida; great aunt Frances Davis of Anniston, Al.; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
