Mark was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of four children born to Selma and Charles Harris Sr..He was preceded in death by his siblings Charles Harris Jr, Sheila Rhaburn and Renette Harris.
At an early age Mark discovered his love for music. Specifically, playing the trumpet in the band at Wendell Phillips High School and with the Giles Yellow Jackets Junior Drum and Bugle Corps. During college and after he played in the professionally and noteably with the Vanguards and the Chicago Connection drum and bugle corps traveling nationally.
Mark was committed to learning and teaching. He mentored many young students at St. Brendan's Catholic School as a music teacher. He was a man of many talents and loved to stay busy. He taught himself to play the piano by ear and found enjoyment in painting.
Mark was a hard worker. His work ethic reflected the same devotion he showed to his family and friends.
He lived a long and fulfilling life and was a special person to all who knew him. Mark was devoted to his family and friends and aided many of them in his lifetime.
Mark's presence will be forever missed, but his memory will live on in every story shared, every photo, every trumpet heard and every heart that love him.
His legacy left behind includes his 5 children, Andrea (Shawn) Lawson, Mark Anthony Harris Jr., Barbara Perduto, Karen Harris and Joseph Harris. Numerous beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and friends.
