Lance Dexter Allen, born on November 12, 1956, in Macon Mississippi; peacefully passed away on Sunday October 26, 2025, surrounded by family and love. He was the beloved son of Annie Mae and Emmett Allen and the second youngest of eight children.
Lance grew up in Macon where he attended grade school and later Noxubee High where his love for baseball took root. Lance later continued his education at Alcorn State University, cherishing the friendships and lessons he found there.
In 1974, Lance moved to Chicago, IL where he found work at U.S. Steel Mill. It was in Chicago that a childhood friend Claude introduced him to Eula, who would become the love of his life. The two were married in 1979 and welcomed their only son in April 1980, a moment that brought Lance tremendous joy and pride.
In Chicago, he became a devoted member of Saint Philip Neri Church where he participated in community activities and was an active member in the Men’s Club.
A lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Lance found great happiness in watching and cheering for his favorite team. He will be remembered for his bold personality, dedication to family, strong faith, and the love he has for his son. He leaves to cherish his memories; his only son Lance Dexter Allen II, three sisters Patricia Banks, Annie Louise Woods, and Evelyn Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
