"We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give." If it's true, then Francine Delores Billingsley led a truly rich life defined by her extraordinary generosity and spirit. She was a nurturing soul who touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
On November 11, 2024, at approximately 5:11 PM, Francine transitioned from this earthly journey to be with the Lord. She was born on August 18, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Louise Billingsley and Frank Gardner, both of whom have preceded her in death.
Francine's commitment to personal growth was evident when she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002, all while dedicating 36 years of service at the United States Postal Service, from which she retired in 2006. In 2024, she concluded a fulfilling tenure as a security officer at the Museum of Science and Industry after nine years of dedicated service.
Her faith was an integral part of her life. Francine confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was proudly ordained as an usher at the First Church of Deliverance, where she served faithfully and with grace.
Francine shared a profound bond with Ida Holmes, her beloved partner with whom she had a common-law civil union, who sadly also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her cherished family: her sister Ethel Earnest; brother William "Brother" Billingsley; and sisters-in-law Lela and Mary Billingsley. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Walter and Arnold Billingsley and her sister Gina Billingsley. Francine leaves behind a loving family that includes a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and treasured friends, all of whom will hold her memory close to their hearts.
Francine was the life of any gathering, gifted with an infectious spirit that encouraged others to relax and embrace their true selves. Her sudden passing has left a void that will be felt deeply among all whose lives she enriched.
As we celebrate the beautiful life of Francine, let us remember her laughter, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her. Though she will be missed, her legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire all of us to give freely and live fully.
