Derrick Newbern

Derrick Ronald Newbern was born into this life on November 10, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Patrick Jr and Betty Newbern.  He was the 4th of 7 children.

Derrick attended John Foster Dulles and Betsy Ross elementary school. He also went to the Englewood High School.

Derrick accepted Jesus Christ and was baptised in 1971 at Greater Canon. He fellowshipped with many churches. He had a solo career at multiple churches, including Greater Canon and Redeeming Church of God. However his home church was First Church Of Deliverance where he joined in 1989 under the leadership of Rev. Grey.

Derrick was a fun loving person who had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. “Come in the building children '' , "Anything dead needs to be buried "was one of his favorite sayings. Even through Derrick’s many illnesses he remained independent and always kept his faith.

Derrick was preceded in death by his Mother Betty, Father Patrick and Sister Beatrice.

Derrick leaves to cherish his memories: 3 brothers and 2 sisters and a host of friends and family members.
